This was my second time giving a lecture to design students at FAU and it was a blast.
One of my previous professors at FAU and local Florida Artist, Adrienne Gionta, asked me to swing by her class and give a workshop about zine making and self-publishing. I have been making zines for about 7 years now and have experimented with a variety of production processes including offset, digital, and letterpress.
I explained some of my successes and failures to the students this week and showed them how to create their own zines/books. We split the class into two groups of eight and everyone had the chance to illustrate their own 8 page zine.
The students (and myself) were somewhat confused during the process although everyone was amazed at the end. The best part of the day was hearing how excited the students were after they finished making their zines.
